Spring 2013 Runway Trends For Everyday

Let’s face it – it’s hard keeping up with the times. Now that our four favorite weeks of fashion have come to a close, we can finally sit back and reflect on the looks we’ve loved and can’t wait to try. But after dozens of runway shows and countless models marching down the catwalk, there are more than a few trends that stand out. Some designers chose subtlety, while others opted for attention-grabbing shades of color. Some stripped their models down, while other added volume and depth. Below are my three favorite trends to take from the runway to real life this coming spring. Click on the collages or check out my collection for info on where to find more runway inspiration.

Primer | Pencil | Shadow

All shades of shadow took center stage for spring. Since oding on eye shadow as a preteen, I’ve been hesitant to get too crazy with the stuff. Although Donna Karan’s pink lids and lashes aren’t exactly wearable for work, other designers tackled the trend a little differently. I’ll be honest when I say that bright blue shadow has never been first on my wish list, but thanks to Rebecca Minkoff, Michael Kors and Kate Spade, my ears have officially perked back up. Whether you choose a full lid of color or a swipe of liner, everyone is free to take a stab at this trend.

Butter London | Essie | Deborah Lippman

Nail art made more than one appearance on the Spring ’13 runways this year. Styles ranged from quirky nail grafitti at Rachel Antonoff to reverse French manicures at Peter Som and Jenni Kayne. My favorite designs came from Phillip Lim, where classy, two-toned neutral nails reigned supreme.

Origins | bareMinerals | LORAC

Call me biased, but as a long time bushy-browed girl, I’m always happy when statement eyebrows come back into the limelight. Marc Jacobs, Rachel Comey and Thakoon all featured models that had given their tweezers a vacation. My favorite look came from Jason Wu, where brows were structured but still a focal point. Try enhancing already full eyebrows with powder or a pencil to get a similar effect.
